The Senior Scientist will be a critical member of the Technology team and apply various analytical methods, especially mass spectrometry, to characterize materials at high temperatures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and perform laboratory experiments for material characterization, especially determining chemical composition of vapor phase analytes by mass spectrometry at high temperatures and reduced pressures

• Introduce new R&D laboratory equipment and procedures, including recommending and evaluating new instruments, ensuring general maintenance and upkeep, writing SOPs, and training new users

• Select or design custom analytical apparatus and instrument components

• Develop timelines and resources to implement solutions for project execution

• Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook and document findings in reports and presentations that communicate results and conclusions clearly and concisely

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree required, Masters/PhD preferred, in Materials Science/Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry

• Experience with the application of analytical methods including mass spectroscopy, calorimetry, and spectral analysis.

• Knowledge of and experience with medium to high vacuum systems and high-temperature furnaces.

• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to quickly absorb new concepts and subsequent application within prescribed timelines and resources

• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; must be flexible and able to adapt to changes in priorities.
